About Us Located in a 16th century Cruck building, Peppercorn Cottage leaves you with that timeless feeling of being in a place of great beauty - surrounded by classic delicatessen fare. With a superb cheese and charcuterie counter, pies & cakes, hand made luxury preserves and chutneys along with double cream ice cream! There is a exquisite range of the finest Belgian chocolates which can be expertly boxed and wrapped for you. On fine weather days you can enjoy alfresco dining overlooking the cobbled square with views across the town. From the month of January through to October we operate an inside Bistro with a wonderful menu selection. This ranges from light snacks to main meals, with a mouth-watering menu of homemade ice cream sundaes all created from our own products. Giving you and your friends a taste of true Deli - fare! We are also specialists in gifts of quality and distinction, many of which are hand made here on the premises, offering you high Quality, unique and exclusive gifts. Christmas is a time for hampers & basket gifts - again we can offer you a wide choice to choose from or enjoy the benefits of our bespoke hamper service where you decide on the contents. This service is available all the year round should you wish to give of gift for anniversaries, birthday’s or even just to say thank you!
Husband and Wife Team The business was founded in the last year of the 20th century and has three directors - Ray Fudge, his wife Vanessa and Georgina Fudge. Vanessa is the manageress and is responsible for the very diverse stock range and also the producer of all the wonderful gifts and hampers. Ray is the behind the scenes accounting manager and they are both very active in looking after their customers within the shop, making a strong team together. They also worked hard to convert the 16th century cottage themselves and ensured that it was done in complete sympathy with the building and its lovely surroundings of the Bosworth Square. Many visitors describe the shop as an “Aladins (sic) Cave” and The “Fortnum & Mason” of the Midlands
A Piece Of History Tollemarche-Scott (sic), who was the owner of the Dixie Estate at the turn of the last century, renovated many buildings around Market Bosworth, leaving symbols of his Scottish and English heritage on the pierced and carved barge boards of Peppercorn Cottage in the form of a Scottish thistle and an English rose. The cottage, formerly part of Glebe Farm (the estate builder’s yard), comfortably sits in a corner of the historic cobbled square, and is adjacent to Bosworth Country Park and its splendid hotel in the old Dixie mansion. We are just a short walk from the picturesque working canal, steam railway line and Bosworth Water Park and a short drive from the famous battle field of King Henry and King Richard. The area also has a wealth of countryside footpaths ready to explore.
