'DISPLAY/MONITOR SETTINGS'
I use a 17" monitor with Windows 98 Second Edition on a PC. In the CONTROL PANEL I have specific settings in the DISPLAY icon and also in my ADOBE GAMMA icon. The Adobe Gamma options provide an optimum setup for viewing the files that I have created in Adobe Photoshop 5.5, so I believe.
Should you choose (and also have the facility) to utilise the same settings, then here they are:
In the CONTROL PANEL window, click on the DISPLAY icon. In this there is a SETTINGS tab, click on this. My COLOUR setting is at HIGH COLOUR (16 bit). My SCREEN AREA is at 1024 by 768 pixels.
If you then click on the ADVANCED button on the same page as the SCREEN AREA setting, some more tabs are available. In GENERAL, there is DISPLAY - I have chosen SMALL FONTS (Normal Size 96dpi). In COLOUR MANAGEMENT, I have chosen ADOBE MONITOR SETTINGS - which you may or may not have.
Back in the CONTROL PANEL, I have an ADOBE GAMMA icon, which I can click on. My settings in this are: PHOSPHORS P22-EBU, and WHITE POINT - 6500k (Daylight).
I don't understand what most of this means, but perhaps it might assist your viewing pleasure. Also, another handy tip, make sure that the brightness isn't too high on your monitor, because you may be missing out on some great colours and backgrounds!
